Theme

The Art of Hawai‘i

Join us for an inspiring and joy-filled summer as we explore The Art of Hawai‘i (pronounced huh-wah-ee, spelled Hawaii in English). Through hands-on artmaking and creative discovery, students will dive into the rich culture, vibrant landscapes, delicious food, meaningful customs, and artistic contributions of the Hawaiian Islands.

Each week, students will experiment with a variety of materials and media including drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, and art + science projects. It’s going to be fun, imaginative, and full of aloha spirit!

This journey includes four weekly online lessons, an art bin with supplies, and links to extend the adventure through related reading and resource materials from the Library and museum collections.

All together, we’ll celebrate the conclusion of the program with an in-person awards reception and a joyful Aloha Celebration—featuring island music, hula, and Hawaiian fun!
